EXP 2 - concepts

Last week in class we were required to come up with 5 concepts for each of our chosen architects in groups.

Mies Van Der Rohe

1. Limiting excess and clutter to emphasize open space
2.  Planar elements for harmonization with existing landscape
3. Minimal skin and bones framework to reveal the individual character
4. Unification achieved without ornamentation through the character of enclosed space
5. Reducing distractions to emphasize the beauty in essential elements of our lives
   
    

MVRDV

1. Reuse of materials for Sustainability
2. Challenging existing thinking through optimizing design solutions
3. Focus on urban landscape and the public realm
4. Radical investigative spatial research
5. Multicultural habitat for a rich social life
6. Turn urbanism into landscape architecture

   

I especially love the designs by MVRDV, I think that they are extremely imaginitive and creative - they are unlike any building I have seen before. The way that they are represented on their website is also unique. I will definitely keep up to date with their work!
